OUR PROJECTS

"The importance of education has always been a leitmotif within South Africa, and it is because of our commitment to this cause that we seek to register the Alvira Foundation as a Non Profit Organisation (NPO). "

The Alvira Foundation aims to broaden the scope of South African education by implementing educational projects that develop parents, teachers and students to the fullest. The foundation nourishes the intellect, character and social values of each person reaching the mind, heart and will.

The Alvira Foundation will achieve this through 3 initiatives; a school, a mentoring project for students (Umazisi), and finally a research institute for educators.

The foundation is the heart, the research institute is the mind which is informing the content for the foundation and education is the will which enacts the virtues we’re trying to instill:

Alvira Schools

Parents

Alvira Schools provides high standard virtue based education that places parents in their role as primary educators, ensuring a friendly relationship between teachers and parents.

Character

Our schools educate from an anthropological perspective by reaching the mind, heart and will through nourishing the intellect, character and social values of each of our protagonists.

Mentorship

A key tool is the use of mentorship between students and teachers and parents. We intend to enrich the methodology of educating with research findings from the Alvira institute.

Umazisi Project

Workshops

A series of non-formal, fun, stimulating and educational activities aimed at broadening the mentees scope of understanding in various topics, through critical thinking.

Mentorship

Intentional bonding with the goal of helping each mentee grow in self-knowledge, set personal, social and academic goals and bring out his or her full potential.

Community Service

Finding safe and healthy areas of need for the mentees to actively engage with their community. It is an opportunity for them to put into practice what they have discovered.

Research Institute

Research

Research will focus on applying Tomás Alvira’s philosophy in a South African context. We aim to research, publish and provide continual formation for teachers, parents and students.

Educators

Reach the public sector of education and collaborate with them to find ways to complete education through conferences or workshops. Attracting teachers who are aligned with our values.

Network

Network with local and international thought leaders by presenting and participating in various conferences and joint research undertakings. This will assist in readiness for starting a school.
